A “TraNature” tour of the South Island takes you from the east coast to the west coast, from the north to the most southern point of the island. There are mountains, lakes, glaciers and wild, desolate beaches. You will visit the most remote areas you have ever been, where humans have rarely set foot, on land shaped over millenia by immense geological forces. Stunning natural formations like the Pancake Rocks exist alongside vast fiords, thick and humid subtropical forests and stretches of beautiful coastline. You will encounter native birds, albatrosses, blue penguins and maybe even the odd whale as it surfaces from the deep waters off the island’s east coast.
The great thing about New Zealand is how easy it is to experience nature. Within a couple of days of driving around, you can go from majestic mountains, glaciers and spectacularly coloured lakes to ancient forests and coasts of sand and volcanic rock.
